Methamphetamine Treatment Programs

City/County Alcohol & Drug Programs located in Rapid City, SD has a Long Term Day Treatment Program at the Friendship Halfway House. It is a six month residential program at the halfway house followed by six months of after care for males only. This programs is a research project for individuals based on meth usage and gender. There are 25-30 slots per year.

Keystone Correctional Meth Program located in Canton, SD has an Intensive Inpatient Long Term Treatment Program that is utilized only in extreme cases and when all other means of treatment have been exhausted. This program is an alternative to violating the conditions of parole/probation, rather than returning the client to a correctional institution. There are 20-25 slots per year.

If you have an inmate/parolee/probationer that you would like to refer to the meth program, please follow the following steps.

1. First, you need to decide if a referral is appropriate for this program. Have all other means been exhausted? Have they been to another level of treatment before? Do they have any desire to quit using? Do they have any pending legal charges? Remember-alternative to incarceration.
2. The client must commit to a one year program, and sign the agreement. They should be explained the phases so they understand their part (mainly financially).
3. They are responsible for the Aftercare portion and possibly a portion of the half-way house (any costs above what the Division pays per day)
4. They will need to get a Drug & Alcohol Treatment Needs Assessment completed. This can be done at any Accredited Agency.
5. The agency completing the assessment will submit it electronically to the Division for approval. Jennie Englund or Cindy Ryan will be the ones to approve the applicant.
6. Once approved, they may enter the program. Jennie/Cindy will set the date, according to Keystone's schedule.
