When are the Application deadlines?
January 1 and July 1 of every year.

What are the dates for the written examination?
The second Friday of March and the second Friday of September of every year

What is the required coursework for certification?
Please refer to the attached Standards manual

Where do I go for my classes?
Any accredited college or University of your choosing that offers addiction specific coursework.

When are my CCBTs / CEUs (Continuing Professional Training) hours due and what is the cost for recertification?
Certified professionals recertify in the month of their birth. Forty hours of continuing education must be documented every two years. The $150.00 recertification fee must be submitted annually with the recertification application and survey, if requested by the Board. Information submitted after the last day of the professionals month of birth will result in a $50.00 late fee. Individuals who carry both AODA and CPS certification are required to complete 60 hours of continuing professional training every two years.

When and how do trainees renew their status?
Trainees renew their certificate in the month of their birth by submitting a trainee renewal application and submitting the $100.00 renewal fee. Beginning January 1, 2008, ten hours of continuing professional training must be documented per year and submitted with the renewal application in conjunction with the $100.00 renewal fee.

How many years can an individual carry trainee status?
The CBADP will require that an individual complete the certification process within five years of obtaining trainee status, beginning July 1, 2008.

What examination preparation materials are available?
Study guides are available through the Distance Learning Center, LLC for both the written and oral examinations. Practice tests are available by visiting the website located at www.castlelearning.com. Written and oral preparation training programs are available through Prairielands Addiction Technology Transfer Center South Dakota, USD (605) 677-6230.

How do I get approval for continuing professional training?
An individual must submit an approval form for continuing education in conjunction with a training outline or agenda, detailing time frames, name and content of the event, qualifications of the instructors, etc. within thirty days pre or post of the event.

How do Service Providers get approval for continuing education?
A service provider must complete a service provider agreement form, an approval for continuing education form, a workshop agenda or brochure detailing topics to be discussed, time frames, qualifications of instructor, etc., in conjunction with a $25.00 fee, thirty days pre or post of the event.

What is the reciprocity process?
A certified professional is required to request a reciprocity application from their current board. The individual must complete the application and sign the release and authorization. Staple a money order (payable to IC&RC) for the non-refundable application fee of $100.00 per credential. Make a copy for your records. Mail the completed application and fee to your current IC&RC member board. Please see the IC&RC website (www.addictionboards.org) for a full listing of IC&RC Member Boards.
