Validation of Supervision |
The Board of Social Work Examiners requires that all licensed Social Work Associates annually document
that a licensed Certified Social Worker-Private Independent Practice, Certified Social Worker or a
licensed Social Worker is supervising him or her. South Dakota Codified Law 36-26-10 requires this
documentation.
36-26-10: Unlicensed practice as misdemeanor - Associates to be supervised by social workers. It is a
Class 2 misdemeanor for any person or persons to engage in the practice, or attempt to practice, social
work as a certified social worker, social worker, or a social work associate without a license pursuant
to the provisions of this chapter. No social work associate may practice except under the supervision
of a certified social worker or social worker.
Please be advised that this law will be strictly enforced in regard to a
licensed Certified Social Worker,
licensed Certified Social Worker-Private Independent Practice, or a
licensed Social Worker.
The
Validation of Supervision form should be filled out and returned to the following address no later than
March 31, 2002.
