May 16-17, 2013 2 Day Person Centered Thinking Training
This training consists of 2 days of exercises where the participants learn how to use seven person centered thinking (PCT) tools and acquire five basic PCT skills. Participants receive instruction and practice in using the processes and structures to develop plans that support choice while addressing issues of health and safety. Some of the skills discussed during the training are: the importance of being listened to and the effects of having no positive control; the importance of understanding a person's daily rituals and routines; how to discover what is important to and sort what is important for people and to respectfully address significant issues of health or safety while supporting choice. Presenter: Marilyn Lash, MSW. She focuses on the cognitive, behavioral and social impact of trauma to a student's developing brain and provides tools and strategies for practical application by educators in the classroom. In addition she addresses the emotional needs of parents for support and communication following the onset of their child's disability and special needs.
