Mission Statement
The mission of the South Dakota Developmental Center is to provide individualized treatment services and supports to people with
developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors only when needed
services are not available in a community setting.
Philosophy
We believe that all people with developmental disabilities have the same rights, responsibilities and opportunities afforded others, including protection from abuse and harm caused by self or others.
We believe that all people with developmental disabilities have the capacity for growth and development.
We believe that the most positive and the least restrictive procedures should be used when teaching people.
We believe in improving the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of services by developing and monitoring of annual treatment goals and objectives.
We believe that employees should have a work atmosphere where they are listened to and know that they make a difference.
We believe that SDDC is an important part of the entire developmental disability delivery system in South Dakota.
We believe in fostering cooperative relationships with other providers to ensure people with developmental disabilities have the best possible life.
We will comply with all state and federal rules and regulations pertaining to SDDC.
