Active Treatment

Course Description: The course discusses the importance of Active Treatment and the development of an Individual Support Plan according to Title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).

Course Objectives: Participants will:

  • Use graduated guidance to promote independence in Activities of Daily Living Skills
  • Identify ways that individuals learn and our influence on that learning
  • Understand prompting, fading, reinforcement, shaping and other techniques of working with persons
  • Understand how an Individual Support Plan is developed
  • Understand the importance and their role in the Interdisciplinary Team Process
  • Understand how training and service interventions are developed and their role in their implementation
  • Understand the importance of generalization of skills
  • Understand the basics of data collection
