Mission Statement

The mission of the Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBVI) is to provide individualized rehabilitation services that result in optimal employment and independent living outcomes for citizens who are blind or visually impaired.

Job opening

The Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired currently has a job opening in the Pierre offier for a Program Specialist. First Friday

The South Dakota Rehabilitation Center for the Blind (SDRC)  would like to invite any South Dakota residents, who have low vision or are blind, to participate in the upcoming June “First Friday” event to be held on June 1, 2018, and  feature the following:

A.T. walk-in clinic

  Have questions about technology? Experienced staff can help answer those questions at the Walk-in Clinic .

What’s New in Home Management

  Come see what’s new in home management. Prepare an easy meal on the induction stove, make something in the air fryer, and more!

2018 Governor's Award Nominations

The South Dakota Board of Vocational Rehabilitation, Board of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Statewide Independent Living Council are now accepting nominations for the 2018 Governor’s Awards.

The nomination categories are:

Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination. Nomination forms can be found online at http://dhs.sd.gov/rehabservices/governorsawards.aspx.

The deadline for submitting names for consideration is Friday, May 25.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard will recognize individuals and employers for their contributions to the rehabilitation and employment of South Dakotans with disabilities during a ceremony later this year.
