
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

Course Description:
This course teaches how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction in adults, children and infants, along with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.
Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to:

Describe links in the American Heart Association Chain of Survival

Describe how to activate the local emergency medical services system (EMS)

Recognize the four major emergencies
-
Heart Attack
-
Cardiac Arrest
-
Stroke
-
Foreign Body Airway Obstruction
Participants will demonstrate the following skills:

Calling 911
-
Rescue Breathing for adults, children and infants

One and Two Person Rescuer CPR for adults, children and infants
-
Relief of Foreign Airway Obstruction for adults, children and infants
-
Safe Defibrillation with an AED
Participants will be certified through the American Heart Association in Adult, Child and Infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation.
Course Cost: $5.50
