
Heartsaver First Aid with CPR/AED

Course Description:
The Heartsaver First Aid course consists of 6 sections: General Principles, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, CPR/AED for adults and children, CPR for infants, and Environmental Emergencies in accordance with state and federal authorities.
Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to:

Bleeding you can see/ Bleeding you can’t see

Mouth and tooth injuries

Bites and stings

Temperature-related emergencies

Poison emergencies

Tell how to give CPR to an adult, child, and infant

Tell how to use a barrier device

List the signs of choking

Tell how to help a choking victim

Tell how to give CPR and use an AED
Participants will demonstrate the following skills:

Show the correct way to remove protective gloves
-
Show how to open the airway of a victim who does not respond
-
Show how to check if a victim is breathing
-
Give CPR to an adult, child, and infant
-
Show how to help a choking victim
-
Use an AED for victims 1 year of age and older
Participants will be certified through the American Heart Association. To receive credit for course completion, students must pass skills test by demonstrating competency in these skills:
