Mission Statement

The mission of the Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBVI) is to provide individualized rehabilitation services that result in optimal employment and independent living outcomes for citizens who are blind or visually impaired.

2019 Governor's Awards Nominations 

 

The South Dakota Department of Human Services Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBVI) will be holding a public forum on April 26. The forum will be hosted in conjunction with the National Federation of the Blind of South Dakota State Convention. The forum will include input on services and the SBVI Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act State Plan goals and strategies. 

 

The forum will be held at the Rushmore Hotel located at 445 Mt. Rushmore Road in Rapid City from 4p.m. – 5:30p.m. MDT. Written comments and questions can be submitted by mail to: Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired, 3800 E. Hwy. 34, c/o 500 E. Capitol Ave., Pierre, S.D. 57501. To request an interpreter or other accommodations for the public forum, please call 605-773-4644 or 1-800-265-9684. Requests for accommodations should be made at least one week prior to the public forum. The mission of SBVI is to provide individualized rehabilitation services that result in optimal employment and independent living outcomes for citizens who are blind or visually impaired.
