SBVI Service Delivery During the Coronavirus Pandemic

In light of Governor Noem's "Back to Normal Plan" most SBVI staff have returned to their offices. To ensure the safety of our staff and clients offices are not open to the public and most services continue to be delivered remotely.   We are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (CDC guidelines) to do our part to ensure everyone stays safe.

The SD Rehabilitation Center for the Blind is providing services and training on a limited basis with referrals from SBVI Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors or Rehabilitation Teachers. All services are delivered in accordance with CDC guidelines.

SBVI staff have been creative with planning remote service delivery and although not ideal, I am thankful that we are able to continue to serve South Dakotan's with vision loss during these challenging times.  We will continue to explore ways to provide training and quality services using innovative approaches to address each individual's unique strengths and needs.

For information on applying for services go to: https://dhs.sd.gov/servicetotheblind/howtoapply.aspx. If you would like to refer someone for services, simply fill out and submit the SBVI referral form. To contact SBVI staff go to: https://dhs.sd.gov/servicetotheblind/sbvioffices.aspx

We are committed to providing quality services with your safety in the forefront during these unique times.  We will continue to follow CDC guidelines and amend our practices based on the latest recommendations. Check back for updates. Take care and be well.
